This week join Matt "Mind Crush" Finneman, Chris "Shazam" Robinson, Scott: Aqualad" Brehm, and Andy "Nite Owl Hipster" Niemann as they talk about the biggest event of the month - ASM #700! Video games come and video games go. But talking about them is timeless! Welcome to another never ending flood of games, courtesy of the holiday gaming season. This time the Nola Nerds tackle November, one of the biggest perpetrators of the problem. We talk about news. We talk about games. We talk about everything from the launch of the Wii U to the troubles of working Black Friday, to discussing the big two of Halo 4 and Call of Duty Black Ops II. We discuss new Vita deals and the merits of whether or not Playstation All-Stars is merely a Smash Bros ripoff or a solid game on its own. So join the Nola Nerds Matt "Damnit, Playstation All Stars is good!" Finneman, Chris "I am neutral on whether or not Playstation All-Stars is good" Robinson, Scott "Damnit, Playstation All Stars is merely a ripoff!" Brehm, and Mason "I still haven't played Playstation All-Stars" Maldonado as they talk shop, argue with each other, and then apologize to each other for all the yelling.

Wow. What are the odds that our newest episode would fall upon the fabled 12/12/12? Who knows? Probably low. Or high. I don't know. We do comics here, not probability. I mean, we did probability back when we were in college and taking high level math courses, but now? Nah man, we stick to the comics. Pass those savings on to you. This week we tackle more new Marvel NOW books as well as enjoy/lament Marvel's excessive shipping schedules. We also take you on a journey through the next round of Death of the Family books as well as some new all ages and Before Watchmens. So what are we waiting for? It's a totally vanity project yet again as Nola Nerds Chris and Andy (and like 10 seconds of Matt) sit down and record a commentary of the most succesful Power Rangers movie. Marvel at the awful CGI! Shudder at the complete lack of Bulk and Skull! View the completely unnecessary costume changes! If you listened to our Digimon commentary you know what to expect. Comics, video games, trade collections, TV...the possibilities are endless! September. September is the dam that holds back the crushing waves of the holiday deluge of video games. Cracks start to appear in the dam, but it is still fairly strong. Damn, I am good at metaphors. This month in gaming we discuss the news from the Tokyo Game Show, discuss the merits of the true reveal of all pertinent Wii U information, talk about new game announcements, as well as laud Sony for the Day One Digital initiative. We also break down the games of the month, from the big dogs of Borderlands 2 (we even give it a mini review!) and World of Warcraft to the smaller gems like Black Mesa and Torchlight 2. Join the Nola Nerds Matt "Twenty Twizzle" Finneman, Chris "Loves Hexagon" Robinson, Ronald "Huge Nintendo Fan" Bienemy, Scott "Brass Fan" Brehm, Mason "Early Adopter" Maldonado, and Andy "Tokyo Jungle" Niemann.

Welcome back devoted gamers and list lovers! We hope you are ready for more gaming greatness as we continue our climb to the top! As we continue to talk our way to #1, it becomes increasingly difficult for us to place games over others. Each game on this list is a classic in its own right, and sometimes the only reason other games placed higher is because more Nola Nerds advocated for it. It is a long and winding journey that nearly ended one friendship. If that kind of drama doesn't make for good fake internet radio, I don't know what does! This time we talk about everything from sequels to beloved games, to a more mature relaunch of a gaming icon, to arguably one of the best video game movie tie in of all time, to a game that was more than met the eye, and many more. Join Matt "Replicant" Finneman, Chris "I Hate Drake" Robinson, Ronald "Hogan" Bienemy, Mason "Cybertron" Maldonado, Andy "Colossi" Niemann, and Andy "Maverick" Dileon as they usher you into to the world of gaming greats!

What do you think? Agree? Disagree? Think Chris is a big ol' bitch? Think Andy's black lung cough sounds wonderful over the internet? Sound off and let us know at any of our wonderfully convenient social media destinations!

Who is ready to continue on with some lists? We know we are! You know, there is just something about debating something so exhaustively and coming together to collectively agree on a list that makes it all worthwhile you know? I am sure this list will be debatable to many of our fans and critics alike, but that is the whole point of it all - to generate discussion and conversation about one of the greatest hobbies of all. In this list we break down numbers 80 through 61 and tackle some of the all time greats. From space animals, to the most unlikely of gaming crossovers, to time traveling heroes, to a current fave and many more, the Nola Nerds are out in force to voice their opinions. This time around we welcome Matt "Mitochondria" Finneman, Chris "Dark Forces" Robinson, Ronald "The Immortal" Bienemy, Mason "Sora" Maldonado, and Andy "Do a Barrell Roll" Niemann.

Do you agree with our list? Disagree? Drop us a line and let us know! All opinions will be shared on a future video game episode of the Nola Nerd Podcast!

THE COUNTDOWN HAS COMMENCED! Now that the Honorable Mentions are out of the way, it is time to delve into the true meat of the Top 100 list. This part details our collective picks for numbers 100 all the way to 81. We discuss the merits of each game while simultaneously complaining whenever a game we didn't want on the list appears. Alas, that is the way is goes during a collaborative effort, not everyone can get their way. But then again, isn't that the fun of lists like these? Complaining about lists is one of the true joys of being a nerd.

For this section of the list, we bid farewell to our resident Angry Gamer, Ronald "It Gon Rain" Bienemy who was off hosting a Baton Rouge Gaymers Event, but say hello to several others! This time we have Matt "I Cried During Lufia" Finneman, Chris "Thick Veiny Cock" Robinson, Scott "Hates RPGs" Brehm, Mason "TWEWY" Maldonado, Andy "Eye Roll" Niemann, and other Andy "The Thing Is" Dileo.

What do you think of the first round of games? Agree? Disagree? Think a game should be ranked higher? Or not at all? Let us know! E-mail us at NolaNerdpodcast@gmail.com.

Welcome to the very first installment of our long awaited definitive list of the best video games of all time (according to us) See, that is an important distinction to make. This is not a Top 100 Influential Games or Top 100 Games that Changed Videogames list. We only put games on here that we personally played, personally enjoyed, and personally recommend. If it came out before we were born? Chances are it didn't make the cut. Full disclosure: Atari is entirely missing from this list. Sorry. Each Nola Nerd contributed their own personal Top Video Games list, and then we all gathered together to debate and decide the definitive order of them.

This first part details the games that weren't quite good enough to make it onto the list. These are the Nola Nerd Podcast's Honorable Mentions.

After you listen, let us know what you think! Don't think a game should have made the list? Upset that one of the games on your own personal list didn't make it? Drop us an email at Nolanerdpodcast@gmail.com Hit us up at Facebook.com/Nolanerdpodcast or Twitter @NolaNerdPodcast and check out our video rendition of our list over at youtube.com/NolaNerdPodcast.

Man. 48. That number is dangerously close to the big 5-0. We are crazy near our biggest milestone yet! Thank you everyone who has stuck with us this long. But enough premature nostalgia! We are here to talk about comics yo! This week we tackle the final wave of DC's Zero Month and discuss and debate any new origin changes contained within. We sadly start the countdown clock to the end of major Marvel flagship books. We get interrupted by Cathy "Not Internet Famous" Lesher. And we shamelessly plug other Nola Nerd properties. Ah August. Not quite the Game-ageddon that the holiday season is, but definitely not the infinite drought of gaming sadness that June and July usually are. It is essentially the red headed step child of the gaming calender. However! This month gave us relatively lots to talk about in the gaming world. From gaming expos like GamesCom and PAX Prime to new info on the Wii U and Vita to a few new game announcements, to the actual releases of the month running the gamut from retail to downloadable to mobile. We talk about them all! And then quickly regress into several tangents relating to anything from motion gaming merits to the qualifications of a handheld to the big question of them all: Who sucks more this gen? Capcom or Square-Enix?

Join the Nola Nerds Matt "Captain Quark" Finneman, Chris "Metroplex" Robinson, Scott "Madden Madness" Brehm, and Ronald "Persona" Bienemy as they break down the month of August so you don't have to!

01m11s - Gaming News August 2012

26m33s - Retail Games

1h01m00s - Downloadable and Mobile Games

Welcome back to another exciting and action packed and fun filled and other words episode of the Nola Nerd Podcast Video Game show! This month we take a look back at the month that was July of 2012. Ah, July. Traditionally one of the slowest and weakest months of video game sales, in recent years the realm of downloadable games has surfaced to claim July as their rightful place. XBox Live Summer of Arcade begins, and the tail end of the month saw the first outing of Playstations Month of Play. We also were graced with the wallet draining Steam Summer Sale. While the releases were few and far between, there were still a few nuggets of post E3 gaming news to be had as well as a few quality games worth spending time and money on. So dive in, and listen to the Nola Nerds break it all down for you. Joining them this time are Matt "Picross Champ" Finneman, Chris "DayZ" Robinson, Scott "Caught The Show Bug" Brehm, Ronald "Angry Black Gamer" Bienemy, and Andy "Playstation Plus" Niemann.

FIVE WEDNESDAYS IN A MONTH! IT'S CRAZY! IT'S MADNESS! IT'S...well, it's actually a lot less to talk about than normal. Fifth Wednesdays always bring out the meager offerings. However, we were treated to several higher-than-usual-for-5th-Wednesdays quality on several books. This also marks a rare return to the original comics trio this week, as the Nola Nerds consist of Matt "That Was Totally A Legit Email" Finneman, Chris "You Are a Filthy Liar Matt" Robinson, and Scott "Forever New Andy" Brehm. Did you know they released a second Digimon Movie? We sure as hell didn't! So imagine our surprise when one started playing after the second season of the show ended on our awesome DVDs. Now imagine our disappointment when we realized it wasn't even a full length movie, but merely an extended episode. Now, imagine your disappointment and apathy when you listen along with us as we discuss and berate the movie for even existing.

Huzzah!

Welcome to the April 2012 Video Game Podcast by the Nola Nerds! TAKE TWO! Because Chris is a big ol' jerk face who deleted our first one back when, you know, it was actually the end of April and not smack dab in the middle of May. But here we are! Back! And neither better nor worse than before. This month we talk about the big games (of which there were few) and the big news (of which there were a good amount) in the video game world for the month of April. We also discuss and break down the shockingly fun yet rip-offy sounding Playstation Smash Bros...er, I mean, All Stars Battle Royale. Who do we want to see appear? Who is in our dream roster? Check it out and find out!

Items of note discussed within: Witcher 2, Walking Dead Ep 1, Fez, Tales of Graces, Microsoft's $99 Xbox 360, Call of Duty Black Ops II vs. Halo 4 (The November FPS THROW DOWN!), Prototype 2, Kinect Star Wars, and Playstation All Stars Battle Royale.

The Nerds on deck this go round? Matt "I Love Sony Smash Bros" Finneman, Chris "I Want Resistance McResistancy in the Game" Robinson, Garrett "All I Play is Disgaea" Platner, Ronald "Still the Angry Black Gamer, But Now a Hardcore Tales Player" Bienemy, and Mason "I Love Sora and Leon Kennedy" Maldonado.

Using our entirely imagined celebrity status, the Nola Nerds found themselves in a position of power at the Free Comic Book Day festivities at their local comic shop, BSI Comics in Metairie, Louisiana. And by position of power, I of course mean the least professional podcast recording live on the floor as a sea of humanity swept in to snag awesome free books. Join Matt and Chris as they discuss some books given out that day, interview local artists and writers, and snag some face time with several surprise guests! It was a day of fun, so we invite you to join in with us and experience the magic. The terribly edited magic.

The Nola Nerds are at it again folks! Bringing along with them a gaggle of guest stars, Matt and Chris work hard to break down the month of March in video games for your viewing...er...listening, pleasure! Everything from the Kickstarter craze to the supposed leaked specs of the Playstation "Orbis" and the XBox "Durango" to discussions on the biggest games of March like Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and Street Fighter x Tekken to downloadable gem Journey to the shockingly great Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations. All the games and news, big and small get broken down by our crack panel of experts. Experts like Matt "I Platinumed Naruto" Finneman, Chris "Addicted like a Crackwhore to MLB The Show" Robinson, Ronald "I Hate that the Wii gets all the Good JRPGS" Bienemy, Mason "Still Essentially Useless" Maldonado, Josh "Left Us Halfway" Bowman, and introducing Andy "Smoker's Lung" Dileon.

At roughly the 40 - 45 min mark we shift focus from gaming news to games themselves.

And at 1h44m, we hate hardcore on Ethan for missing out on the recording.

7 months later, how do the books of the New 52 stack up to how we originally perceived them? Back in the olden times - back before a good mic, before a good software program, but still with the same level of professionalism - we listed the 52 books of DC's relaunch from the best to the worst. Have any books made a significant jump for better or worse? Have we changed our minds or held true to our first impressions? Join Matt and Chris and find out!

In their second attempt to bring you hard hitting wrestling commentary, Chris, Garrett, Ron, and Scott banter about the 2012 Royal Rumble. The matches, the entrances, the surprises and the disappointments!! We break down everything. And Garrett goes off on John Cena for some kinda vague reason. And we all ask who on earth is Jindar Mahal?
